As the centennial of the influential composer Tite Curet Alonso approaches, award-winning actor and playwright Josean Ortiz brings his story to life in this anecdotal piece, inspired by the book of the same name by folklorist Norma Salazar, exploring the cultural legacy of one of the greatest composers of bolero and salsa in 20th-century Latin America of Puerto Rican descent. With an acting career as intense as it is diverse, Ortiz has distinguished himself by bringing illustrious Black figures to the stage through his own plays. He has also established himself in New York theater as an actor, director, and producer.

Part of Sesquicentenario: In commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, EAC will feature several programs that celebrate explore the Latino Voice and the American Landscape.
