Exploring the powerful legacy of African heritage in Venezuelan and Caribbean traditions.

Casa de Venezuela Filadelfia, in collaboration with Taller Puertorriqueño, is proud to announce Expresiones Venezolanas 2025: “Roots & Rhythms – The African Influence in the Venezuelan Diaspora,” a vibrant cultural and educational event exploring the powerful legacy of African heritage in Venezuelan and Caribbean traditions.

Taking place on Thursday, June 19, 2025 (Juneteenth), from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Taller Puertorriqueño auditorium, the program will feature an interactive educational workshop and a dynamic live performance led by acclaimed Afro-Venezuelan artist Carlos Talez, accompanied by four talented musicians. Renowned historian Evelyne Laurent-Perrault will co-facilitate the workshop and provide historical context on the African roots that have shaped Venezuelan identity and diaspora.

This year’s program is a unique opportunity to commemorate Juneteenth while honoring the vibrant traditions of San Benito y San Juan Bautista—Afro-Venezuelan celebrations rooted in resistance, resilience, and cultural pride.
